Surviving the economic crisis—DON’T PANIC
As we face this financial crisis in our country—it is vital that we do not panic. Although, we are constantly bombarded with stories surrounding the declining real estate market, the government bailing out financial institutions, the job market plummeting as well as gas and food prices increasing—we as individuals have to re-evaluate our current situations and adjust accordingly. As an initiative, I have designed a plan to help me and my family alleviate some of the stress during our troubled times.
1. Budget expenses
a. Cut back on utilities (if possible)
i. Turn off lights when I leave a room.
ii. Use ceiling fans instead of the air conditioning
b. Travel as necessary
i. Conserve gas by combining errands.
ii. Explore work at home opportunities.
c. Take on another job
2. Spend less and borrow less
a. Buy products in bulk or on sale.
b. Use cash instead of credit.
c. Buy only the necessities.
3. Stay abreast of the current issues regarding our nation
a. Be an informed citizen.
b. Rally for change
