Structural Bridge Engineer | Providence, RI | Hybrid
Join VHB’s dynamic Rhode Island Structural Team as a Structural Bridge Engineer and be a part of our expanding and innovative group! Responsibilities
- Perform structural modeling and design of highway, pedestrian and railroad bridges and other structures
- Create plans and digital models of the bridges and highway bridge approaches
- Perform bridge inspections
- Develop construction cost estimates
- Prepare contract documents
- Review fabrication drawings and provide construction plan reviews
Skills and Attributes
- Strong technical skills in bridge/structural design
- Experience developing design reports, plans, specifications, and construction cost estimates
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Self-motivated and commitment to learning
- Excellent attention to detail
- Training and mentoring skills
- Effective and comfortable in a highly collaborative team environment
- AutoCAD Civil 3D, Revit, and varied structural design software experience a strong plus
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field of study (structural emphasis preferred)
- 5-8 years of professional structural/transportation/bridge design experience required (master’s degree may substitute for 1 year of experience)
- PE license required or ability to obtain within 6 months.
- Successful completion of NHI Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges training a plus
- Familiarity with structural modeling/engineering software is a plus
The base salary range for this position is $100,000.00-$120,000.00. This offer is determined based on several job-related factors including internal comparators, skills, education, training, credentials, experience, scope and complexity of role responsibilities, and geographic location.
