I am trying hard to reduce my energy cost. This is really hard work, but this is not going to deter me. I bought a 8 watt solar panel, a marine deep cell boat battery, a 750 watt inverter, and a recharger. I think the recharger is funny because you need to plug it in to the wall in order to recharge the battery. However, I suppose you can get 2 batteries. Charge one during the day with the sun while you are at work. Right now I only have one battery, but I will get another when I get paid. I have energy efficient bulbs everywhere. I use nothing else. Got them at hardware store (the big chain) surprisingly cheaper than the dollar (and lots) store.
Right now I have a credit on my gas bill that is a little over $400. (I knew I would be off for a few weeks so I was paying a set amount each pay. Then, I ended up not using as much as I thought). My electric bill is low because I turn everything off.
Right now, the biggest bills are the house payment and my CRV. I am trying to be smarter, but I listen to others as well. You can get a lot of good information from others. I am planning on a little garden in the spring, and since I have an artisan spring under my house (or so I was told) I will try to use it this year to save on my water bill. I can use it to water the lawn, wash the car, etc.
If you have any cost effective ideas that you use, I would love to hear them. I am trying everything!!!
